World Snooker Tour builds global commercial capability with Head of Partner Services hire
Overview
World Snooker Tour is the commercial entity responsible for the global promotion and commercial development of professional snooker. Over the past decade, the Tour has expanded to more than 20 events worldwide, with prize money rising from £3.5 million to £19 million and a global audience of 500 million viewers.
Following continued commercial growth and new international partnerships, the organisation required senior leadership to manage and elevate its partnership services function.
Challenge
The requirement formed part of a time sensitive mandate, with increasing commercial activity and an expanding global calendar creating immediate demand for dedicated partnership leadership.
Demand for experienced partnership professionals across global sport is high. The brief required an individual capable of managing global partnerships while driving value through creative activation and strategic input. Cultural alignment was also essential within a lean and ambitious team environment.
Solution
World Snooker Tour re-engaged Executives in Sport Group following previous successful appointments, including the Chief Commercial Officer. The search was led by Lena Stroem who specialises in Marketing, Digital and Partnership Services.
A targeted search strategy was delivered, combining market mapping, strategic talent outreach, referrals, and access to a curated global talent network. Candidates were identified across sport and adjacent industries, with a focus on both experienced partnership leaders and high potential individuals ready to step into a broader role.
“It was important to identify candidates who could operate commercially as well as deliver operational excellence across global partnerships.” Lena Stroem – Recruitment Specialist, EISG
Candidates were assessed on partnership management experience, commercial exposure, activation capability, stakeholder management and cultural fit.
Outcome
The process engaged 200 candidates, with 30 screened and 6 shortlisted, resulting in 2 final stage interviews and a successful appointment within 8 weeks ensuring continuity across the partnership portfolio during a critical phase of international growth.
The successful candidate brought a strong blend of partnership management and commercial sales experience, with a background across organisations including The FA and the Women’s Super League.
