Challenge
Lllanelli based rugby union giants The Scarlets approached us looking for a Sponsorship Sales Manager who could build strong links in the local community, as well as focussing on advertising, hospitality and match day sales.
Off the back of their on-field success, they wanted to grow their commercial operations and bring sales back in-house, thus extending their reach and engagement on a local, national and international scale. Oh, and they wanted this person in place in time for the new season. Game on!
Solution
The right person needed to have a strong background in business development and the ability to negotiate end-to-end contracts. They also needed to match The Scarlets ethos and culture and have proven local business contacts. Identifying the very best passive sales talent that matched those criteria was no easy task. We embarked upon a blended search, incorporating an innovative advertising campaign, to attract the right sort of individuals with a strong appreciation of the club’s geographical territory. We also carried out a headhunt aimed at key sporting and leisure venues in the region.
Result
Having identified a few ‘possibles’, our video profiling technology allowed The Scarlets to quickly screen a number of applicants for communication skills. The final interview stage provided three strong candidates, each very capable of fulfilling the role.
The result? A forward thinking individual who brought a love of rugby and strong business contacts in the west Wales region was hired on time and on brief.
We have very specific demands but they always deliver. They know the consultancy world and have given us some of our best people
