Headquartered in London, with a dedicated sports division based in MediaCityUK, Manchester – Stream Advanced Media Group enables organisations across sports, media, and betting to deliver video content at scale.

Challenge

StreamAMG delivers over 20,000 live events across sports and betting/gaming clients every year. As more and more sports organisations strive to use technology to convert followers into loyal fans and paying subscribers, the appetite for OTT consumption grows, and so too does the demand for talent. We were challenged with finding several exceptional individuals, with quite specific OTT / product experience, through a primarily European focussed executive search.

Solution

The OTT / Direct to Consumer market within sport is quite nuanced. Where we’re often tasked with bringing cognitive diversity from outside sector, StreamAMG were clear that to support their ambitious growth plans they needed to build a layer of broadcast industry expertise to the senior leadership team.

Key to their plans was finding a Director of Commercial Strategy who would be a ‘big picture’ thinker, understanding business development, marketing and content in equal measure. In tandem, a Director of Product would be appointed who, ideally, already knew the main players within the OTT/D2C space having either sat supplier side in a tech company, or rightsholder side procuring such services.

Executives In Sport Group ran one of our most rigorous research phases to date. Carrying out extensive competitor research, influencer outreach and two solid weeks reviewing delegate and speaker lists for a range of OTT and Sports broadcast conferences and events on an international scale across 2021 and 2022.

Result

We were able to appoint three experienced individuals, all with personal runway to grow and develop with StreamAMG, which is something they always look for. Find people for today, but who can grow with the business.

The Director of Commercial Strategy is an experienced international Chief Marketing Officer  / Commercial Director who has worked for some of the biggest brands in world sport including the BBC, Manchester United and British Cycling.

The Product Director has a wealth of tech / OTT experience and most recently sat rightsholder side procuring such services and had previously led broadcast operations for UEFA.
