DAZN is an international entertainment platform delivering direct-to-consumer streaming for sports fans across the globe. They deployed innovative and complex technological solutions around latency, scalability, personalisation, and streaming quality.

Challenge

As a dynamic start-up, DAZN needed to scale rapidly. In particular, following the award of the broadcast contract for J League coverage in Japan. They were keen to bring European expertise and storytelling to football coverage in the region.

Solution

Our Sports Media lead swiftly stepped up to the assignments. With a comprehensive understanding of the industry and a global list of contacts, he could navigate quickly to a pool of relevant individuals. This talent pool contained individuals with deep knowledge and experience within the sports content space, both live and documentary.

Results

We made targeted approaches to the key figures within European football, across broadcasters, agencies, production houses and leagues, and ultimately secured Sky Sports’ Head of Football who made the career and life decision to move to Japan for this ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to shape the direction of football in Japan.

For the SVP Original Programming & Content Development we were able to use our network of industry influencers to introduce us to a BAFTA and Sports EMMY award winning TV producer / director who had worked for BT Sport, Sky and ESPN.
