Summary of the role

Portsmouth Football Club are actively seeking a Social Media Manager to take charge of their busy media team. The role requires someone with a creative mindset and the ability to manage, motivate and drive digital and social media.

As Digital and Social Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day running, development and growth of PFC’s digital and social channels.

Reporting to the Commercial Director you will co-ordinate and manage a small social team to create and deliver engaging content that makes our Club stand out.

You will be an expert in the digital and social field with in-depth knowledge of the all major social media platforms and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.

As a social media expert, you will be able to identify social trends, manager your team in order for them to make real-time decisions that make our players, our team, sponsors, platforms and content stand out.

You will be a team player and work creatively and efficiently with the other key departments such as Marketing and Sponsorship Delivery to help drive revenue and engagement through the use of the digital and social platforms.


The Role

  • Create a social media and digital work flow plan on a weekly basis summarizing activities.
  • Create, manage and deliver creative digital that is of first-class standard.
  • Lead and manage your small team in a manner that gets the best out of them creatively and in all that they do.
  • Create content using Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator.
  • Manage the filming of content using mobile phones, GoPros and small pro cameras etc.
  • Work with our Main club Partner the University of Portsmouth and their media department, to utilise their expertise, students and state of the art facilities.
  • Provide analytical reports for the various channels to provide information on growth, trends and revenue growth potential.
  • Manage the content plan for the club website with a strategy to increase traffic to the site.
  • Work alongside the Marketing Manager to create engaging content to promote merchandise, ticketing and hospitality etc.
  • Work alongside the Commercial Director in creating the medium/long-term digital and social strategy for the club.

Due to the nature of this role you must be able to work all home match days- including weekends and occasional weekday evenings.
