Job Description

As Social Media Manager you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running, development and growth of all of LFC’s social channels reaching over 50m fans.

Reporting to the (TBC), you’ll coordinate the social team (2/3 others) and the output across the week, spotting trends and making real-time decisions that make our players, our team, platforms and content stand out.  You’ll be exceptionally organised – sorting 24/7 staffing, planning posts, and co-ordinating cross-platform social coverage on all our channels for social, editorial and partnership content.

You’ll be a confident and original content creator, a digital native, producing engaging and shareable made-for-social content, with a particular emphasis on video and compelling imagery.

Crucially you will be a social platform expert with in-depth knowledge and understanding of all major social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios. You will constantly monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategies and inform and involving the rest of the media team. You should always be learning. You will keep a close eye on what our direct competitors are producing on social media and monitor its impact.

Your social team will work closely with our web, video and TV teams on developing a social media strategy that forms part of our wider media operation and cohabits and compliments our owned LFC platforms, ie LFCTV, LFCTVGO, www.liverpoolfc.com,  LFC Xtra and many more. You will not be afraid to innovate or push the envelope, within the boundaries of being a club media outlet.

You will build a social strategy to continually grow our fan base and promote our content in a positive and authentic way, ultimately playing a key role in our club’s conversion strategy. You will actively interact with fans via social media and explore best practice for engaging with the fan base.

You will have – or will actively seek to develop – an in-depth knowledge of Liverpool Football Club’s history, culture and fan base to ensure you are communicating with our supporters in a tone of voice that represents the ethos of the club.

You will have strong editorial judgement and an understanding that any postings or communication will always be interpreted as the voice of the club as a whole, and not you as an individual or Digital Media as a department.
