Club Journalist & Programme Editor

A rare opportunity has arisen at Crystal Palace Football Club for a Club Journalist to our Content team, with the successful candidate primarily having overall responsibility for the club’s matchday programme, whilst also contributing on a daily basis to and other digital sites owned by the club.

The club is extremely proud to retain full editorial & design control of its home matchday publication – a rarity in the Premier League.  Packed with high quality, engaging and accurate editorial features, the Club Journalist & Programme Editor will create content for the publication including interviews with players, staff and former players, and liaise with all contributors and the design team.  The successful candidate is ultimately responsible for the entire production of the publication.

The successful candidate will also be heavily involved in producing and editing copy for and other associated sites and publications.


Skills & experience required

  • Relevant experience as a journalist, NCTJ qualified
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • A self-starter, someone who can work under their own initiative with minimal direction
  • Exceptional time management
  • Excellent communications, writing & presentation skills
  • Passion for print journalism and design, with an eye for detail
  • Deep understanding and interest in the consumption of sports content and football fans
  • Track record of creating impactful features
  • Exceptional knowledge of Premier League Football
  • Experience of Content Management Systems
  • Proficiency in using Photoshop


Example of a matchday programme:

Location: Central London (but Beckenham and Selhurst Park when required).

Requirements for application: 1 page cover letter, 1 page CV, links to 5 feature articles.

Due to the nature of this role you must be able to work all home match days - including weekends and occasional weekday evenings.
