Fox Head, the most recognised and best-selling brand of motocross apparel in the world, sponsor some of the best riders in the history of the sport. So, when they called us from their Barcelona office to ask if we could lead the search for a new UK Sales Manager, it was a challenge we were keen to take on. They had a very clear idea of what they wanted, but where to find an exceptional individual with proven experience of leading geographically diverse sales teams who lives and breathes motocross, mountain biking and action sports? Oh, and someone who could fit into a family run and operated business where the second generation work full-time within it? It was time to find out.
We launched a full headhunt and talent identification process, with our Head of Research and his team working hard to track down relevant organisations where the perfect candidate might currently be. We then ran a series of interview days in our HQ, where we identified six exceptional individuals who underwent interviews, psychometric testing and video profiling. This ensured we could give Fox Head a wealth of information about each, not just in terms of professional capabilities, but also their cultural fit.
The successful candidate ultimately came from a senior managerial position in a significant global motorcycle manufacturing business where he had led a sales team and overseen £80m worth of sales revenues. Outside of work, his passions include motocross, mountain biking, wakeboarding and snowboarding, so it's fair to say, short of discovering he was also a distant relative, we couldn’t have found a much closer cultural fit!
